Planet 21 Sustainable Development

In our joint goal as a community to better improve our environmental footprint and sustainable practices, Joy~Nostalg Hotel & Suites Manila has received official Platinum Status under the Accor Planet 21 initiative.

As part of Accor’s Planet 21 sustainable development program, all of us here at Joy~Nostalg Hotel and Suites Manila are committed to provide a positive hospitality experience to all guests through sustainable practices and innovating with our guests, partners and local communities.

Eco-friendly practices are taken one little step at a time to reduce our environmental footprint within the hotel. We also work hand in hand with our sister Accor properties here in the Philippines, aiming to significantly drive positive change in the environment.

Sustainable Actions

Repurposed Materials: The Roof, Joy~Nostalg Manila’s pop-up bar and rooftop venue, is a design concept that focuses on sustainability made of upcycled and repurposed materials – old barrels turned into functional cocktail tables, hanging planters serve as drop lights, an old bath tub was turned into a king sized drink cooler, old water pipes and shower heads refashioned into lamps.

Sustainable Venue: The Greenhouse located at The Roof is a private room themed around plant life and future plans include table top potted herbs, a hanging garden and a fish pond. The walls are made of recycled Styrofoam materials coated with cement and sculpted into a brick wall. The venue caters to corporates and groups looking for a more relaxed, communal experience for hosting functions or celebrations.

Plastic Alternatives: In an effort to reduce plastic bottle demand and consumption within our property, we have started installing water filters and amenity dispensers in our rooms and suites.

Paper Straws: We have eliminated the use of plastic straws in our facilities. Guests staying at the hotel and dining at the Nostalgia Lounge & Bar will now enjoy drinks with paper straws, an environmentally friendly alternative.
